Discontinued Exams Update!

In order to better serve our community and patients our Radiologist and Clinical leadership teams have decided to discontinue the services listed below. We will continue to honor and schedule the patients for orders we have already received.

Effective March 24, 2023, we will no longer accept new orders for the following exams:

  • CT
    • CT Sacroiliac Joint Injection
    • CT Lumbar Spine Facet Joint Injection
    • CT Guided Tendon Sheath/Ligament Injection
    • CT Guided Trigger Point Injection (1-2 Sites)
    • CT Guided Bone Lesion Biopsy
    • CT Bone Mineral Density Study
    • CT Myelogram Lumbar, Cervical, Thoracic and Total Spine
    • CT Pelvic Cystogram
  • RF (Fluoro)
    • RF Aspiration/Injection of Knee, Ankle, Foot, Shoulder, Wrist and Elbow
    • RF Lumbar Spine Puncture w/ Fluoro Guidance
    • RF Lumbar Spine Foraminal Block w/ Fluoro Guidance
    • RF Lumbar Spine Epidural Steroid Injection

    • NM Limited Bone Scan (IHS will only perform 3 Phase or SPECT for Limited Bone Imaging)
    • NM MUGA
    • NM Thyroid Uptake and Scan, Uptake Only, and Image Only
    • NM Thyroid Ablation
    • NM Thyroid Mets Whole Body
    • NM Thyroid Mets Whole Body – Post Ablation
    • NM Lung Perfusion

This decision was not arrived at lightly. We understand that this may create an inconvenience to patients for the above listed exams, and we apologize for any disruption this may cause. If circumstances change in the future, we may consider reimplementing these services.

Important Mammogram Service Update!

Imaging Healthcare Specialists is excited to announce that we upgraded all our Mammography units to new 3D Tomosynthesis imaging units! Not only are 3D Tomos the standard of care for all mammogram imaging, but it reduces patient call backs by 43% and most medical insurances now cover it. Starting March 13, 2023, this is the only type of mammogram IHS will be offering.

X-Ray Services Temporarily Closed

Our X-ray services at La Jolla and Poway are temporarily closed due to staffing shortages. Please visit our Oceanside, Encinitas, Hillcrest, San Diego, Chula Vista, or Logan Heights locations for any X-ray needs. 

Due to available capacity and adequate staffing, we are discontinuing the services below:

  • Thyroid Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA)
  • Obstetric Ultrasound Greater than 14 Weeks
  • Diagnostic Mammogram IF the screening was NOT completed at IHS
  • Biopsies IF the initial imaging was NOT completed at IHS (Prostate MRI Biopsy exempt)
  • CT Guided Biopsies

We understand that this may create an inconvenience to patients, and we apologize for any disruption this may cause. We remain committed to providing high quality care to our community and ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. Therefore, we recommend referring OB US greater than 14 weeks to a perinatal center. FNA and biopsy procedures are recommended to be referred to a hospital setting.
