High-Resolution Lung CT (HRCT)
An HRCT is designed to provide exceptionally detailed images of the lungs with as low a radiation dose as possible. The detailed “thin slice” images are needed to properly evaluate and monitor diffuse interstitial lung disease, such as:
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Cystic lung disease
- Small airways disease
- Pulmonary micronodules
- Bronchiectasis
This technique can also be used to evaluate lung damage resulting from respiratory illness, such as COVID-19 (also known as post-COVID fibrosis) or other respiratory illness resulting from MERS and other coronavirus infections.
