Job Description

The Financial Analyst is responsible for a variety of analytical and budgeting activities within the Accounting and Finance department. This position will coordinate the annual budgeting process and compile month-end variance analysis reporting to be presented to executive management.  This position will be responsible for preparing ROI models for capital projects.  The Financial Analyst will participate in the month-end close process and disbursement cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Creates financial models for department use in reporting/analyzing operating results;
  • Performs analysis/review of operating results, assists with monthly financial reporting, and creates new reports as needed;
  • Prepares financial evaluation of projects to assure adherence to financial objectives of the organization;
  • Assists in the development of the annual budget and mid-year forecasts;
  • Prepares analysis of capacity utilization, payor mix, gross charges, contractual adjustments, write-offs, and clinical staff productivity;
  • Defines financial reporting needs and coordinates any system modifications with internal staff or with third party billing company;
  • Prepares and presents a variety of budgetary, informational and statistical reports and makes recommendations in written and oral presentations;
  • Participates in purchasing and disbursement process related to vendor sourcing, order tracking and cost analysis;
  • Assists Accounting staff with the month-end close process, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field;
  • 3-5 years of Financial Analysis or Accounting experience
  • Knowledge of general principles and practices of financial management in the health care industry, including billing and revenue cycle;
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including the use of spreadsheets and database software;
  • Ability to collect, assemble and analyze a large volume of financial data;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with written and verbal communication skills when interacting with both peers and senior management.
