Breast Imaging Information

Imaging Healthcare Specialists provides the latest full-field digital mammography with computer-aided diagnosis at all our breast imaging sites: as well as breast ultrasound, breast MRI, stereotactic breast biopsy, ductography and pre-operative hookwire localization procedures. We also provide the full-range of other women's imaging, such as pelvic ultrasound, pelvic MRI, Spiral CT, PET/CT, hysterosalpingography, hysterosonography, nuclear imaging, cardiac screening and osteoporosis screening.

Guidelines

Women should undergo an annual screening mammography beginning at age 40 or earlier for high risk women. Diagnostic mammography or other more advanced imaging tests may also be requested by your doctor for evaluating women with specific symptoms, such as a lump or abnormal nipple discharge. Younger women or lactating women who have a lump or other breast symptoms generally are better served initiating their imaging evaluation with ultrasound.

The American Cancer Society now recommends annual breast MRI in addition to annual mammography for women at high risk for breast cancer based on their family or personal history. If your calculated lifetime risk is over 15%, speak with your doctor about breast MRI.
